Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

Praying for an accident on our ski trip to Giant's Ridge

Erik didn't have sunglasses, so he made his own!

Family ski trip to Giant's Ridge!!!
Maida captured a little love in the hotel room  :)

hotel sleeping arrangements

I told Klaasen to get ready to go down to the swimming pool - he put his life jacket on and nothing else, claiming, "I'm totally ready, mom!"

Torsten LOVED the swimming pool, especially when Daddy took him swimming.

Thankful for my babies that will nap anywhere.  If it's nap time, it's nap time!

T ready to ski!

Do you know what a pain it is to get four kids ready to ski?  Ugh!  But oh so worth it!!!

Skogen never wants to go in to the lodge for breaks.  He sits by the skis and waits for the rest of us to break and come back out to ski!  Ha!

The ski trip wore poor Klaasen out.  He took a nice long nap on the couch the day we got home.

Poor guy just couldn't get caught up on his sleep!  He took another long nap on the couch the next day, too!

I hosted a ladies Bible study for church!  We're doing the study, "Chase"by Jennie Allen.  It's soooo good!!!

Erik and I went to a gala for Maida's school!

My brother and his family came to go on a day ski trip with us!  Poor Klaasen slept almost the entire day on the table in the lodge.  He wasn't feeling the best

My awesome family in the ski lodge.  I love that we like to do so much together.  It's such a blessing to have a close family!!
Snacks in the lodge

My little cowgirl.  I caught her drinking coffee with a imaginary cowboy, talking with her best southern accent!

Homemade paints!

Skogen got his hair cut and not only did she do a HORRIBLE job on the haircut, but she CUT HIS EAR!!!  This picture was taken a week later when all the puss cleared out of the wound.  I will steer clear of the Barber Shoppe from now on.

One way to make me the happiest girl in the world is to buy me flowers!!!  Thank you, Erik.

Spring is in the air!  They love playing in the melting snow and water.

Icky puke flu took Skogen down for a few days.  :(

Goof ball! I told him to get his sweatshirt on so we could get to school and he came out wearing it like this!
