Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

August in Pictures, Part 7: Disney World Day One

The kids had NO idea we were going to Disney World while we were in Florida.  We got a great discount and decided to go on the spur of the moment, so it was a surprise to us, too!  We decided to tell them in a cool way.  First they put a puzzle together....

The puzzle said, "Surprise," and the kids didn't get it, so Erik told Skogen to look closer.  When Erik picked up the puzzle and held it to Skogen's face, Maida and Klaasen were able to see Mickey Mouse on the other side!

Then they each got a gift bag of Disney goodies!

The next morning we packed up and headed for three days at Disney!
We spent the first day at Magic Kingdom.  Klaasen puked all over himself in the car, just 10 minutes from Disney, so we had to pull into a Target and get him a new Mickey shirt.

Maida, Skogen, and Klaasen played parts in "Storytime with Belle."  Skogen was the Beast, Klaasen was Chip, and Maida was the jail.

They practiced a short play with the kids and then the kids "surprised" Belle with the play!
In the play, Skogen jumped out and scared Belle!  And then later they had a nice, sweet dance.  He was SO proud!

To save money, we didn't purchase any food at Disney! We brought all of our own meals and snacks.   This was our lunch break!

Middle of the day parade with lots of characters!

The day we were at Disney was the hottest documented day in Orlando that summer!  We had to drink a lot of water!  It was SO HOT!!!

Skogen and Klaasen both enjoyed their first roller coaster!

After a day full of rides, we enjoyed a movie that was shown on the front of the castle and then some fireworks over the castle!  It was so magical!

Despite the heat and trying to cram so much into one day, we had an amazing time at Disney.  It was a day full of memories that we will never forget!
