Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

Las Vegas!

Erik and I took at little trip to Las Vegas to celebrate our anniversary!  This summer was ridiculously crazy and time away together was absolutely the most important thing we did.  Between the army, the kids' sports, getting the house ready to sell, and other small trips here and there, we needed time away to rejuvenate and reconnect.

Our hotel had five tv's, a projector, a four person jacuzzi tub, a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, and an amazing view!
We also had a pool! We only spent a little time there because of everything else we wanted to squeeze in, but it was just gorgeous!

Erik took me down town Las Vegas the first night.  I felt a bit out of place!  There were topless women, lots of drinking, and wild people... not really my type of thing, but it was fun to see "Sin City."

The Wynn, where we went for brunch, was absolutely beautiful!  The whole lobby was decorated with things made from real flowers.  Amazing!

This is the swimming pool at the Wynn.  That big white sheet is actually a waterfall that is rushing into the pool.  The pool is completely surrounded by trees.  You wouldn't ever know that you were in the city!

For our anniversary dinner, we ate at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant!  Our view of the Bellagio was magnificent!

The water show at the Bellagio was wonderful entertainment!

We tried many new things at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, one of them being several types of caviar!

We enjoyed  a Cirque du Soleil show!  The story lines were fun to follow and this particular one had a grown-up size baby who chose this woman out of the audience as her, "Mama."

We went to the top of the space needle!  There were people bungee jumping off.  I would NEVER do that!

One of my favorite things to do while we were there was to go drive this race truck!

We followed a lead car through the desert, over jumps, and through one of the biggest storms ever!  These trucks don't have windshields, so we got soaking wet!!  We were also super dirty, but had such a great time!

After we rode in the desert, Erik got to drive some laps on the race track!  He got a ton of air off of several jumps.  I decided to sit the racetrack out, but got lots of great pictures!!

At dinner, we were served drinks with a completely square, clear ice cube.  When it was in your drink, you couldn't even tell it was there!  I thought it was so cool.

Our meal at Rose. Rabbit. Lie. was amazing!  They had great service, yummy food, and wonderful entertainment!

We went to the Blue Man show.  It wasn't our favorite, but it's fun to say that we've seen them, now.

I couldn't fall asleep the last night of vacay, so I was laying there looking out the window when it dawned on me how beautiful of a view we had!  So, I took this picture from our bed out the window.
