Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

It is so amazing to me how fast our kids change.
One of the reasons we started the blog was so that long-distance family members could watch our kids grow (I only wish I was better at keeping up the blog and that our long-distance family members would utilize the blog more.  Maybe they go hand-in-hand... :)

I came across some pictures from last March on an old SD card from Erik's phone.  Erik took Maida and Skogen to a nearby state park with some of his resident friends for some rock climbing, hiking, and swimming.  When looking at the pictures I was reminded of two things.  One, how beautiful Minnesota is, and, two, how much the kids change in just a few months!

Those shoes Skogen is wearing in this picture are now two sizes too small and Maida's hair is three inches longer!
snacking on pretzels with Dr. Dustin

Erik sporting his March mustache (thank goodness that has changed, too!)
Dr. Derrick, Dr. Mike, and Dr. Dustin swimming with the kids - the only ones crazy enough to get in MN March waters...brrrrrrrr!
Skogen has GOT to be a few inches taller than this now! And his hair is a few inches shorter...sigh. :(
