Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

Utah Trip 2015

We love our kids, but a break is always nice.  Thanks to my amazing parents, Erik and I have been able to enjoy several kid-free vacations.  At the beginning of March, we called in the grandparents and headed to Utah for a five-day vacay with friends from residency!  Of course, much of the time away was spent skiing, but we also enjoyed shopping downtown Park City and Salt Lake City, Swiss Bobbing, Indian food cooking lessons, hot tubing, bowling, and hanging out with our friend Cameron's family.  I couldn't have imagined a better vacation.  It was the perfect place to go for time away.

Our room was nicely equipped with a Keurig at the foot of the bed!

We fell asleep with the fireplace on in our bedroom every night!  So nice and cozy!
Ski Day #1: Park City Resort

Robed up and ready for some hot tubing!  And we had three hot tubs to choose from!

Headed to Cameron's parents' house with Shawna for dinner!
Cooking lessons from a professional personal chef!  She taught us how to make some Indian dishes!

Diana, Jessi, Wynstynn (Cameron's dad), Erik, and Cameron all in vests!

The dessert was AMAZING!

Ski day #2: Canyons Resort

On the gondola
All of us.  :)

Fat Kid pizza for dinner!
And some bowling to top the night off!

Getting ready for some Swiss Bobbing the next morning!

First you hike up up up  the mountain....
Then you ride the same trail down down down the mountain!
Shopping downtown Park City!  I couldn't get over how beautiful the city was!

You could get on the ski lift right in Park City!!
On our last day there, we headed down into Salt Lake City!  First we hit up the Patagonia outlet and then we enjoyed seeing the Mormon's tabernacle, learning more about the city, and shopping for some touristy type stuff!
This is our snowflake Christmas ornament we bought that is made out of the salt from the Great Salt Lake!

The chair we're going to make out of our ski collection!

Shopping downtown Salt Lake City!  It was so beautiful!

We went over to Cameron's parents' house for games that night and Erik helped himself to some dessert (and look at the size of his belly!!!!).

Last day in Park City selfie!

Erik took one when I wasn't looking.  :)

It was an amazing trip and a great time away with my love!  It's always good to get to know each other again and have fun adventures that doesn't include four little human beings to care for.
