Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

July 2015 in pictures

Erik spent three weeks of the summer with the army in June.  It was a LONG three weeks!  While he was gone, we tried to make lots of good summer memories.  July came quickly and brought Erik home to us!

Summer homeschool!

It was fun to set aside time each day to learn!  I realized that I'm not a very good teacher, though, and having a toddler, too, makes it so so so so hard.  I can't figure out how homeschool moms do it.

Garden blessings

We spent four nights a week at either soccer or baseball!  Dinner was almost always ate on this blanket while we watched his brothers play.

We got a great deal on a big blow up pool!

We put the pool on our deck and it was a great place for the kids to play!

After church one Sunday, we were running some errands and Maida saw this random rock structure on the side of a building.  She yelled, 'It's Africa!!!" And ironically, the white and black circle is right on Zimbabwe!

Our little baseball player!

He got a the chance to play every position over the summer.  His favorite was pitcher and 1st base.

Yum!  Fresh green beans!

Someone had a timeout at the baseball field.

I got stung by a bee for the first time EVER!

It got really infected, so I had to go on an antibiotic.

These three spend at least two hours on the trampoline a day, if not more!  This particular night, they also had the squirt guns on the trampoline. Neighbors within a half mile radius had the privilege of  hearing, "Ah!  He squirted my private parts!" over and over and over.

Family date night at Osaka!

And a movie in the theater, too!

Sunday afternoon, "Good Neighbor Parade," with church friends!

Weed cleaning on the side of the house and other house projects galore!

5k training together.  This was our after run picture.

My little guy up to bat!

A late baseball game = bedtime happened at the field.
Erik played softball two nights a week all summer!  We didn't get to go watch because most of his games conflicted with Skogen's games, but he liked to send us pictures of his attire!

I love our house.

Packing for a week of church camp = my least favorite summer activity to do!

Happy birthday, Klaasen Burke!!!!

Klaasen's birthday dinner at Hu Hot!

Birthday s'mores!
