Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

Tie Dye Goodbye Party

Our decision to move came quickly.  We were not prepared in any way to say goodbye to our friends.  I knew that this would be particularly hard for our kids, so I planned goodbye parties for each of them.  Maida's party was so much fun!

I was dying to tie dye, so we decided to throw a tie dye party since we found a big jar of tie dye supplies on sale at Hobby Lobby!

It was one of the easiest parties to throw!  I prepped all the shirts beforehand, putting them in individual cake pans.

We waited for everyone to arrive before getting started!

I was very unsure about tie dying with so many kids, but the girls followed directions perfectly and were so very polite and creative!

After everyone was done tie dying, we decorated some tie dye colored cookies for a snack!

I had a shadow box and some slips of paper.  I asked each of the girls to write their favorite memory with Maida and a little note for her to read later, after our move, whenever she was feeling homesick.  Then they put the slips of paper in the shadow box.

Then we went around the circle and some of the girls shared a memory they had written.  Other girls brought Maida a goodbye gift, which was very sweet.

Maida was blessed with a super great bunch of girls!  She had the bestest of friends and I know she will forever miss them.

For the party favors, we gave out note cards with envelopes, a pen, and a tie dyed sucker with our new address attached.  This was by far one of the funnest parties we've had.  It's just unfortunate that it had to be for such a sad occasion.
