Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

Christmas 2013 (#1)

Nana was able to come join us for Christmas in Minnesota this year.  We were so thankful to have her celebrate with us!  We started the week by making Christmas cookies!

Typically we exchange presents on Christmas Eve night, but Erik was working nights, so we instead opened presents on Christmas Eve morning!

After we're done opening presents, we have a family tradition of Erik coming out, acting and talking like Santa Claus.  He usually has a plastic bag full of more presents for the kids.  They jump up and down and love getting presents from "Santa."

Christmas Eve movies

Milk and cookies for Santa.  Oh, and Maida made sure we didn't forget the carrots for the reindeer!

Klaasen decided to throw an enormous Christmas Eve tantrum, so Maida fed Torsten his nighttime bottle.  What would I do without her?!!!

Christmas Morning...
