Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

Thankful for Church Friends

Erik came home from drill early last weekend and surprised us! I was especially thankful because it meant that I didn't have to try to bring the three kids to church by myself! Church ended up going so well with three kids that we even went out to lunch with a whole bunch of our church friends afterwards!

The kids at the restaurant

Klaasen was so good! I fed him before we ate and then he slept the rest of the time in his car seat.

All five of us had friends there, even Klaasen! Oliver is about two months older than Klaasen.
Here is our great big table. You can't even see the end! There were 23 of us! I'm so thankful for our church friends.

  1. Church friends are the greatest blessing!! You amazing me, I love your blog updates, amazing you find time with all the kids. I hope I'll still be able to get on when we have ours in February. Has life changed a lot with 3? Hope you're doing great and healing. I think about you guys often :)

  2. That is so great that worship went well and that you were able to spend time with friends too. I am sure it was nice to be about of the house for a while too.
