Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

Preschool Conferences

A week ago, I had conferences with Maida's preschool teacher. Here is the written report I got:
Her teacher also said that she is so delightful and happy. She's always watching out for other kids and is very respectful and pleasant. She doesn't have a best friend or certain group that she hangs out with, but she be-bops around the classroom. Her teacher said that she likes to sit and watch the boys when they are acting crazy or funny and then she'll shake her head, roll her eyes, and smirk a little at them. She can write her name and has great fine motor skills because she can write it in little bitty letters on a paper. She can cut perfectly on straight and curvy lines. She can trace anything perfectly. She's ready to be introduced to site words to begin teaching her how to read. She's very interested in everything at school and when she's been out for a day or two, she never has a problem jumping right back into the swing of things. She likes to tell her teacher stories about her husband Adam (who is her imaginary friend) and up until this point, the teacher didn't know that Adam was imaginary. She thought Adam was a real friend by the way that Maida talks about him!

Over all, I was really pleased with the conference and proud of Maida. She's such a smarty pants!
