Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

A Breakfast to Remember

My nine-year-old nephew, Kellen, spent the night at our house last night. At breakfast the following happened (this may not be as funny as it was in person)...
Maida: [very confused] Mommy, I can't figure out how a baby elephant comes out.
Mommy: Ha! Well, I dunno exactly how they come out, but it must be pretty hard because baby elephants are so big.
Kellen: Wow. [sighing and putting his forehead in his hand] I don't ever want to witness that again. That was such a weird question. Wow. [shaking his head]
Maida: I was thinking that giraffes come out hard cause they are so big and so little, too.
Kellen: Let's talk about the Chrysler Building instead.

  2. Hey Kara! I saw Eric tonight at a graduation planning meeting and thought that you must be getting close to baby time! Hope everything is going well for you!
