Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

Maida's First Dance Class

This morning I brought Maida to her very first ballet and tap class. She was very excited to go and kept asking me all the way there what her teacher's name was going to be. I had no idea, so I kept telling her that we'd find out when we got there. For some reason, though, she just kept asking (nerves?). After arriving and finding out that her name was Melissa, Maida was pleased.
They started out with ballet. Maida did a great job trying to follow her teachers. I was unsure if she would actually participate in class since she has a tendency of just sitting back and watching everyone else, but she sure made me proud! She was even raising her hand to answer questions and talking to her teachers.
After ballet, they changed into their tap shoes. Maida made a grand entrance back onto the dance floor by slipping, sliding, and eventually falling right in front of everyone (who knew tap shoes were so slippery?!). After seeing that she was okay, I thought it was really funny (and so something I would do!) and kept laughing randomly throughout the rest of the class just thinking of it. Maida was a little slower at tap and seemed to be one or two seconds behind the rest of the class, but I memorized their little dance that they learned and will work with her at home a little bit this week.
