Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

Storms

Last week we had some pretty bad storms go through. One night the thunder got so loud that I was afraid Maida or Skogen would wake up and be scared. So, we got them out of bed and brought them into the living room where we had set up a bed for us all to sleep on so we could be close. We woke Maida up to listen to the thunder and she was afraid at first, but after snuggling with Daddy, she felt much better. In the morning, she ran to the door and looked outside to see if she could see the "big big torm".
A couple days later we had another bad storm come and the tornado sirens went off. We all went down into the basement for protection.

  1. How fun! What are we going to do when we don't have little ones anymore Kara. They make life soo fun! I was just thinking about you lastnight and how we need to get together. I want to see your house. You are welcome out here anytime you want to visit!
