Welcome to the Scharrer family's real life story! Most of our story is written for, and about, our four kids and the spice they add to our lives. It's our story of happiness, craziness, and sometimes ridiculousness. We've journaled through childbirth, the terrible two's, private school (and our public school experience), an autism diagnosis, medical school, residency, and long-term mission work in Africa.

Now we're following a new adventure, which involves a 45 foot motorcoach, homeschool, and as many ski slopes as we can go down in one year.

For posts from while we were living in Zimbabwe and updates about our future plans in Zimbabwe, please see our mission blog...

Christian Radio Station Sponsored Picnic

Yesterday afternoon on the way home from getting our car fixed (again!) I heard on the radio that the christian radio station was having a free picnic at the park for families! So when I got home, I immediately insisted that we go. Erik was up for it, however, he had a lot of studying to do, so he said he'd only go if Ryan and Andrea went with us. So I called them up and they were game, so we went. We didn't get very good pictures, but here are a few...

Erik and Maida trying to look at a little stream. Maida wouldn't look at the camera because she was too interested in Avery (on Ryan's shoulders in the background).

This was the best picnic I had ever been to! Free balloons, cotton candy, root beer floats, chips, watermelon, lemonade, hot dogs, brats, face painting, and even games for the kids! Maida would NOT look at the camera. Ms. ADHD was too distracted by everything else around her. However, that's okay because you get a good picture of her curly hair!

Erik and Jacob (a friend from med school) decided to try the sac race. Erik actually ended up getting second place and won a free christian CD! Erik is the one in the green shirt and yellow hat. Jacob is to his left and is in a yellow shirt.

  1. Haha...any FREE picnic with cotton candy has guaranteed attendance! Glad you got a random day out...at no cost! Those are the best ones :)
